This is a six week guided experience to help you get that book written. The Essential Residency is a streamlined, drafting-focused program for the writer ready to try out some new moves and make big progress.

The "Essentials" tier gives you the supportive environment and guided training of the Residency at a much lower cost. This tier focuses on generative writing, moving forwards in the draft with a series of innovative weekly themes and activities + plus the support of the cohort.

Note: The Essential Residency is NOT for people who are strategically revising a manuscript. It is also not a feedback-focused program.

The only goal here is to help you write your book.

1. The six prompt packets: I've prepared a short sequence of focused lessons to help you get unstuck and get writing. These prompts are not really asking you to re-think your book, but rather to just write more of it. The goal is to get your vision down on the page, even if in a messy form. In other words, rather than having to just "work on my book," you'll have an achievable, practical, straightforward plan for each week of the program.

2. The weekly "win the week" sessions: we will meet once a week to share notes and stories, update each other on our projects, and support each other (some of these sessions will be led by my teaching team).

3. The bot suite: this is optional -- you'll have access to several of my hand-crafted writing advice bots. The bots will guide you through each week's prompts, giving you tips and suggestions of what to work on (without ever writing a sentence for you).

4. The weekly planner: Each week, you will complete our one-page writing planner (asking about your goals and concerns for the week's writing) and, if you like, share it in our community forum.

5. The accountability challenge (s): we will run two different accountability challenges -- pick one to join during your time in the program if you wish.
