    The Theme of the season
    This fall, the focus is character-first writing. You’ll learn how to design your plot around your protagonist’s conflicting desires, so the story stays emotionally compelling and easier to continue. We’ll talk about how to hold back material for the middle, how to deepen your character’s connection to the story, and how to use setting and structure to support your main arc. 

     Each week, we’ll meet to review a short lesson, discuss the ideas, try a prompt, and set goals for the week ahead.

    The Nanowrimo for busy / tired people

    This season, we're going to be experimenting with a fun new writing method, one that is meant to work with your energy levels and work capacity. "Constellation Writing" will help you press on with your draft -- when you have the time and strength -- and explore the story imaginatively as your energy starts to flag. 


    The Circle includes templates, tools, printables, and a range of techniques to use this innovative writing method.


    The goal isn't to pretend that you can finish your novel in a month with "one weird trick." Instead, we're going to spend three months stretching, playing with, and easing ourselves into writing a little more each week. 

    What is included?

    • Weekly meetings for three months, each exploring a theme and a writing challenge. You'll receive prompts and writing goals each season.
    • Meetings are on Monday usually at 4pm US east coast time. All sessions will be recorded and shared with you. 
    • Sessions are taught by Daniel David Wallace. 
    • You'll have access to a protected and semi-secret community for you to talk about your writing, learn new skills, and try out ideas.

    FAQ and important notes

    This is not a subscription nor a membership. You will only be charged for the seasons you sign up for. Each year, the Writing Circle will address new topics and craft challenges: no season will repeat.

    Generally speaking, autumn / fall will focus on generating new writing and the winter / spring season will focus on revising and expanding.

    The Writing Circle is welcoming to writers of all skill levels and experience. You do not need to be published (although you definitely can be) to join nor do you need to know all the famous sayings about writing to take part.

    Entry into the Writing Circle assumes you accept the responsibility to be kind, supportive, and positive towards your fellow participants. This is a group coaching / live class experience. I will be happy to answer your questions live. If you would prefer individual / solo coaching from us, please get in touch before you sign up. 

    Because the experience is live and there are strictly limited seats, there is not a standard refund. Please contact me so we can work out a mutually satisfying solution.
